Campsite Review: Placid Lake Campground is west of Montana Highway 83, five miles south of Seeley Lake on the shore of Placid Lake. To get to the campground exit Highway 83 on Placid Lake Road for two miles then make a left turn on South Placid Lake Road and then an immediate right turn on North Placid Lake Road. To enter the campground turn left on Placid Lakefront Road. The last three turns are all within 400 yards.
The nearest city with services is Missoula. The campsite has 40 campsites for RVs and tents and a boat ramp with dock.
We are now sitting in what might be the best campsite we have ever enjoyed. Placid Lake State Park is a wonderful campground.
Here is our post discussing when we stayed at Placid Lake State Park. Stunning Big Sky

Observations
Campsite Review: Placid Lake Campground insider info:
The road was great, all up to the last two and a half miles where it turned to gravel. But right at the entrance to the state park, they paved the road. This makes such a big difference in our enjoyment. Our campsite #15 is twenty yards from the lake and has a good view of the boat launch.
This is a huge campsite, about fifteen yards behind the RV we have a covered picnic table. There are paved sidewalks which lead to a bridge across a small creek (dry in September) and back towards the entrance.
The one thing this campground lacks is good cell service. Tami’s AT&T is very-very weak and my Verizon service is also lacking – even with the cell booster.
All of the sites in the northern loop are without electrical hookups. All of the sites in the southern loop, not including site # 15 we occupied, and # 16 are without electrical hookups. Sites # 25 – 39 all have electrical hookups. No sites have water but water is available near site # 6 & 26.
Campsites
Sites number # 15 & 16 are equal to or better than any site we have stayed in during our last two years of full-time RV travel.
If both boat docks are in operation site # 16 will have less foot traffic in that the south boat dock is located at the water edge across from site # 15. However, site #16 lacks a covered picnic table. The best site without electricity but good for solar is probably # 6 or 7.
All sites vary greatly in size.
Layout & Satellite Views
The only available campground layouts are difficult to use because the map is oriented with north at the right side of the diagram.
Please send me a picture of camping site #7 will 2 tents fit to set up there?
