Our visit to Monterey was great. This is a photo and video review of Monterey. Monterey Bay is one of those places where it is easy to take beautiful photos. We need to go back. Some places are so perfect that you don’t need a lot of words to describe it.
Revised September 2023 to include underwater videos our visit was in the fall of 2019.
Underwater Videos taken at the Monterey Aquarium
I took these videos in 2019 at the Monterey Aquarium and didn’t include them in the blog in 2019. They were taken at a time when I thought I could include videos as part of the content. I put them here in Sepetember 2023 to get ready to include videos in my blog post about the bears at Katmai National Park.
These videos are very short and experimental. They have no sound I don’t know anything about video and sound editing. Perhaps they do have sound.
If you know anything about this, perhaps you could tell me how to make them better.
What was my goal?
My goal was moving pictures. Instead of Youtube videos, it would be cool if they played automatically as you scrolled over the picture. Each video is only a few seconds long and if they launched as you scrolled without any reader interaction I think they would be much better.
A little more about Monterey
I first visited Monterey in 1986 and was very impressed. I’ll include something about that story someday. Even in 1986, the aquarium was first-rate. I have to say that it has improved and so has the town. I didn’t notice any part of the area that was not first class.
The drive to Monterey was beautiful although it does seem that the highway is much bigger than I remember. We are camping almost downtown, at the golf course, right next to the fairgrounds and the airport.

About Comments
We love seeing your comments but they are not automatic. I get about twenty spam comments every day and thus I don’t have automatic comments. I read and then publish every comment personally to protect the blog and keep it on the subject and real. So what this means for you is that you will not see your comment right after you hit submit. Sorry for the delay in publishing your comments. Please know that we love hearing from you.
I hope those little yellow fish are in a separate tank. Or they will not last long with all the jellies.
All the tanks are separate. Still, in the big tank, the tuna have all the sardines very worried.
Great photos
Was that all shot with just your phone?
Great photos, I hear National Geographic is looking for a travel photographer.
All the pictures were on my phone. Part two will be shot on the big camera.
Great pics! Hope you got a chance to eat at Monterey Fish House. Great oysters cooked on a wood fired grill.
Beautiful pictures, Scott.
Last time I was in Monterey met Clint Eastwood while fueling the trusty SeaSprite.
I can’t top that.
