Observations
Campsite Review: Seal Beach Campground insider info:
Call the RV park directly for reservations. The 1-800 Navy Bed phone number is nearly impossible to make reservations. They understand hotels, not RV parks. The central reservation system even frustrates the employees at the RV park. If you tell central reservations exactly what you want and they just happen to have a match, then it may work. They don’t have an overview of any options that might work for you. The park however can see what is going on and can usually make things happen in your favor.
Get your reservations as early as possible. Don’t expect any sites without reservations. This Navy RV park occupancy is probably in the 90% range year-round.
May and June are the coldest months in this location. The sun usually will behind the clouds every day – all day long. The rest of the year has very nice weather.
Don’t expect help from the camp hosts. If you can find the host, they don’t have the authority to make any changes, even on Saturday even when the office will not be occupied until Monday.
Bonus
Seal Beach is a gem located in Orange County California. Ample recreation abounds in the area including Disney Land. The beach and the Pacific Ocean is a few minutes away.
Each site has cable TV and Wi-Fi. The cable TV works great, we have not tried to use the Wi-Fi.
Unknown to most people is that the Navy has a golf course operated by Naval Weapons Center Seal Beach. It is unknown because it is not on the base. The address is 5660 Orangewood Ave, Cypress, CA 90630. To get there exit the Base north on Seal Beach Boulevard then turn east on Westminster Boulevard then north on Bolsa Chica Road. Bolsa Chica will change names crossing Interstate 405 to Valley View Street. Turn west on Orangewood. The person who takes care of the grass at the RV park should transfer to the golf course. The RV park is nicer.
Seal Beach is the only RV park we have been to that has an RV wash station at the park.
