Campsite Review: Jefferson County Lake Campground

Campsite Review: Jefferson County Lake Campground is west of U.S. Highway 20 two miles north of Rigby, Idaho. It is a very nice place. After departing the U.S. Highway 20 turn west on Farnsworth Way then turn right at North 4000 East and the next right on Rigby Lake Drive.

Rigby Lake Drive will end at the entrance to the campground. After entering the campground turn right past the day-use parking.

All campsites will be on the road that goes around the lake clockwise. Campsites on the right side of the road are all lakefront. The campsites at the north end are closer to the water. Most pull-through sites have a bend in the parking area limiting their use to shorter RVs and trailers.

The nearest city with multiple grocery stores is Idaho Falls. The campsite has 50 campsites for RVs.

The story about our stay at Jefferson County Lake is in our blog post – Quiet at the Lake – the pictures are epic.

Jefferson County Lake is a very nice campground.

Observations

Campsite Review: Jefferson County Lake Campground insider info:

The number one and really only complaint is the road noise. The park has made a partial wall along the highway to block some of the noise. Completing the wall would make this park much better.

Occasionally you can hear train whistles but they are in the distance.

We think that we had the best campsite in the campground, we were able to turn around and enter our site backwards — because it was not on a busy weekend. This enabled us to face the water. We did not need our extended electrical cord to reach the power pedestal.

Lower number campsites will have more trees and less road noise.

We camped here after the first cold spell of the year, thus most of the bugs (except for bees) did not make an appearance. Others have noted an abundance of mosquitos earlier in the year.

Bonus

The campground has a very nice nature trail that loops around the lake for about one mile.

Having the lake right there and kayaking each evening was very nice.

Texas BBQ at Lil’ Mike’s BBQ was great. This is potato country, the french fries at Snow Eagle Brewery were the best in my memory.
