From Minot head east until you cross the Missouri River, follow it to the confluence of the Madison and then follow the Yellowstone River to Billings. Just like Lewis and Clark
We spent the night in Livingston on the way to West Yellowstone. The drive from Bozeman south to West Yellowstone was gentle and beautiful.
We did the road in one haul, back to Billings, why you ask, would we leave West Yellowstone and go back to Billings. Because, it was worth it.
Felt like we were getting to know this route, having done it exactly the same way only two weeks ago. We stayed at Bakers Hole this time to make it a little different.
Yellowstone is getting cold, and we need to get south, but not too fast. We left Island Park, Buttermilk campground, the day before it closed. Stopped at Grandview Campground just for the hunting.
Grandview was so inspiring and mountainous that right after we left, we were surprised by all the farms. Staying at Ririe Lake was a great choice.
