2019 Route Colorado to Minot North Dakota

2019 Route Colorado to Minot North Dakota

This selection documents our 2019 Route from Colorado to Minot North Dakota and the stops along the way. We entered Colorado at June 2, 2019 traveling north from Raton New Mexico along Interstate 25.  After spending more than a  month in Colorado, with seven stops, we crossed into Wyoming on July 12,2019 and then made three stops in west Nebraska on our way north.  We stayed for  three weeks in South Dakota and then three more weeks in North Dakota. Our final destination on this leg was Minot North Dakota for the Family Motor Coach Associate International Rally #100.

Our primary must see location  in Colorado was Rocky Mountain National Park. We also enjoyed three state parks in South Dakota and Badlands National Park. In North Dakota we stayed and visited all three sections of Theodore Roosevelt National Park.

Weather in Colorado was typical of early June with snow still very present at the higher elevations. Summer temperatures were mild for the remainder of the journey with un-expected rain and mud in North Dakota.

We crossed the Oregon Trail in Wyoming and Nebraska with stops along the route and then in North Dakota we camped at several locations along the Lewis and Clark Trail.

We crossed into Colorado yesterday over Raton pass and stopped in the Lathrop State Park just west of Walsenburg Colorado.

Last week we camped at “wet mountains” just to the southwest of Pueblo at a campsite at Isabel Lake.  This week we are camping at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs.

Short drive day, to a huge park right against the mountains west of Denver

North of Denver to Cheyenne, stayed at one Colorado State Park, one County Park and one driveway, for the July 4th.

Our trip to western Nebraska has been enlightening.  We never knew!  The road from Cheyenne to Scottsbluff was as expected, prairie and ranches. Fort Robinson was a special delight.

South of Rapid City, close to Custer State Park, National Parks and the Badlands. Nothing bad in sight.

Belle Fourche is a little north of Spearfish South Dakota, just north of Rapid City and Sturgis. Nice place to camp.

North Dakota is our new state, never been here before. Loved Teddy Roosevelt National Park and the Badlands. Minot was fun at the FMCA rally.
