Campsite Review: Escapees North Ranch Campground is northwest of Phonex and Wickenburg Arizona in Congress Arizona. The location is just to the east of State Route 89, south of Congress.
We were traveling to Las Vegas, from Phoenix on State Route 93 and detoured slightly towards Congress Arizona to stay at Escapees North Ranch
Escapees North Ranch is east of and part of the Escapees Co-op Rainbow Park System. The layout is in three rows. The site we stayed in was for short term occupants. Sites further north from our site are occupied on a longer-term basis — monthly and seasonally. The neighborhood to the east is the Escapees Co-op and there is a combination of RVs and homes that cooperate to build the location and typically are used for winter homes in the Arizona sunshine.
Who are the Escapees? They are a group of avid RVers and we are members. They span the country (and Canada) and one of the perks of the organization is the RV parks and RV park discounts. Here is a link to their website. Escapees
We went to the Escapees-Xcapers rally in January. Here is a link to our article describing the Xcapers Bash.
This RV park doesn’t really meet our style of camping, yet it was in a good spot, had adequate room, and was clean. And it was a good price.

Observations
Campsite Review: Escapees North Ranch Campground insider info:
My number one criteria for picking a parking location is that it is flat and big enough. (check) Just as important to me on this stop was that my RV critically needed an electrical hookup. (check) My third criteria is that I want a beautiful place. (check) and I want privacy (fail). Have you noticed that you don’t always get what you want? This is the case here. I don’t like being in a row of thirty RVs.
The desert around the area can be very beautiful, especially at sunrise and sunset. But it can also be extremely hot. Pick your season with this fact in mind.
Bonus
The location begs for off-road or rough road travel. It is huge and would take months to explore. Jeeps and other off-road vehicles would be very fun here.
Caution
This area is known for Diamond Back Rattle Snakes, leave them alone and they will keep the rodent population under control. Yes, there are plenty of rodents — at night. Secondly nearly every plant in the region has some kind of needle that will poke you. Give them plenty of room too.
